Butterfly Experiment

Trying some mixed media today - watercolor, ink & colored pencil. Not sure how I feel about it yet. May need more practice to be able to bring the different mediums together the way I like it. Any thoughts?

Sleepless in... plus some ATC

Sleepless in....   fill in the blank - we've all had those nights that sleep just never comes, like he lost our address or something. Well last night was one of those nights for me, now I'm operating on 2 hours sleep for the past 39 hours. After lying awake in bed for several hours, I got up and made these little artist's trading cards (ATC) I guess it helped because I was asleep 45 min after these were done, and my alarm went off less than 2 hours later

Sketchbook Project: disaster painting

This is my disaster painting. I read in a magazine a painter/illustrator that used both colored pencil and water color to create interesting textures. but it didn't really work out for me. Some of the colored pencils I have are water soluble instead of waxy and they smeared and changed color instead of keeping their texture. I think I'm going to try to use this as a underpainting and apply pastels over it & see if I can salvage it.

New Artist Trading Cards

I painted a few more ATC's to trade with the group I belong to on line. Click on the link below to see all four. Not only does doing these miniature paintings allow me to connect with other artists all over the world, but it's also a quick way to experiment with images, materials, and composition ideas.
