Almost Murder

I painted these two lovelies today. I was a little surprised how they came out, since I haven't painted in acrylics in a very long time.

'Almost Murder' (1 & 2) 8x8 inch, acrylic on silver & gold primed canvas
They will be sold at a fundraiser for the Artist's in Middleburg. The participating artists were given a gold and/or silver 8x8 canvas to paint. They will be sold at the event on Dec 4 for $75 and all proceeds will go into the AiM Scholarship Fund. They ended up being a lot of fun to do, and I may create a series based on these.

Are you there?

I know I've been absent from my blog for a while - been distracted by unforeseen events these past months and I'm trying to get back on track. I've been mostly posting to Facebook - sometimes that's all I can keep up with. www.facebook.com/RemingtonCreations

Summer's already half over, but plenty of warm days to enjoy.

Hot, Sticky, Crabby

Good Morning! It's gonna be a hot sticky one here, but I'm trying not to be crabby about it (coffee helps). Unfortunately for this guy, he can't help being anything but crabby

Outer Banks Reflections

The Outer Banks was a special place for my husband and I.
I'll have most of these available as prints and/or original paintings at the Home & Garden Show this Saturday.

Gossamer Wings - exploration 1

A little exploration featuring my hand-carved dragonfly stamp. Painted with watercolor and ink. 10x8 inches.

Coloring Easter Eggs - No Boiling required

Easter Morning I colored some Easter Eggs to turn into cards - experimenting with the dragonfly stamp I carved, watercolor and ink.

loose paintings of Easter Egg backgrounds
I then stamped the eggs with a dragonfly and finished decorating them with pen. The blue one on the right has metallic gold and silver ink and then speckled with white paint spatter that doesn't show up well in the scan.
I enjoy being able to make things for my friends and family, giving them a little piece of me.
Happy Easter!

Pit Bull Pet Portrait

This is Sahara - a happy, smiley dog I had the pleasure of painting for a friend to give as a birthday gift. It was a lot of fun working on a portrait with so much character.

Christmas Tree Ornaments

I made ornaments to include with Christmas gifts this year.

The dragonfly ornaments were created with a stamp I carved from stamping rubber, then stamped card stock and embellished with paints, pens and metallic ink for the borders. I carved the stars/snowflakes from a pencil tip eraser.  I added eyelets, jump rings and swirl hooks. The backs I hand wrote Christmas greetings.  They measure 2.5 inches square.

After drawing a sketch of a partridge, I carved the image into stamping rubber and stamped bristol board with permanent stamping ink, and painted them with watercolor. Cut the paintings into pear shapes and added the ribbon. I glued patterned scrapping paper to the back and added a Christmas greeting. They measure 7 in high.

Christmas Pet Portraits

These are the balance of the pet portraits I worked on before Christmas. I received some very nice comments about them and that makes me smile. The best thing is when my paintings give people joy :)

No rest for the weary :)
Sprayed the first portrait with fixative and while waiting for it to dry, I started on another one.

Dragonfly ornaments

I've finally finished the last of the Christmas pet portraits. I'll post them all after Christmas. Resting this afternoon, then will tackle my own Christmas.

A couple weeks ago I did a little experimenting with rubber stamp carving making little ornaments. I carved a dragonfly in stamping rubber with lino carving tools and used it as a basis for my ornaments, stamping cardstock or heavy watercolor paper, then paint the cards individually.  The little stars/snowflakes I carved into an eraser on the end of a pencil with an exacto knife. I had to get permenant stamping ink because the regular ink kept smudging when I tried to paint them. I used metallic ink to border them. Then I added eyelets, ribbon and fancy swirl hooks. Each are 2 1/2 inches square. These are personal gifts, so I script Christmas messages on the back.  I may make a version of these next year to sell at shows.

Let me know what you think.

2 more beautiful cats

I stopped posting the paintings I'm working on the past few days, since one of my clients was concerned about the recipient might see it and ruin the surprise.

Delivered this painting today - she said I could share it since the recipient won't see it.  :)

Goodbye Summer

Summer is over already - time just zooms by me. Now it's Fall and the air is crisper and the leaves are turning, time to get ready for the Holidays. I'm working on it :)

Summer Flower Garden

My poor flower garden is neglected and overgrown - trying to keep up with the lawn & weed whacking has left me little chance to work in the garden.
But it is blooming anyway and it still looks pretty - something to smile about.  :)

Flowers have been the subject of several of my paintings, here are a few

Happy Gardening!  :)

Young Buck

My friends and I go camping in Shenandoah National Park (cabin camping) and every once in a while we are visited by various wildlife like this young buck. I was thinking about what a nice time my husband & I had up there this past trip and I decided to paint our friend young buck.
Watercolor & ink, 6x4 inches.

Two Old Buddies - pet portrait

I finished the "Two Old Buddies" pet portrait. I like the way they are never apart.

It was a pleasure getting to know these two trough this painting.

I'm missing the little birds

Painted this little ATC tonight in watercolor 3.5 in x 2.5 in. Even though I've been working mainly in pastel in the past few years, I'm getting a yearning for some watercolor - gotta practice though, its a tricky medium to control. It's almost like trying to train a cat to do tricks. I'm going to try to do a few bird pictures, I kinda miss my birdfeeders, which we had to take down do to the appearance of bears in the area. Hopefully I'll have more to share in the next few days.
